Its Fixed!!

Day 163, January 19th, 2010

Shortly after breakfast, Bill and Barb stopped by to say hi and we happened to mention our refrigeration problems. Bill reckoned he'd experienced exactly the same problem back in Stuart and he'd got exactly the right adaptor to get the recharger thing to fit on the compressor. Within five minutes he was back with the fitting and John was able to make it work!!! How lovely! We sat and watched the thermostat cycle between -12 and -8!!! Once it had gone through 5 times we were happy it was fixed! We called and thanked Dan the air conditioner guy, but told him we no longer needed his services. He was happy anyway that the referral had come through the marina.

Then we figured it would be a good idea if we could buy our own fitting so off we set around the auto parts shops, the air conditioning place, but we couldn't find one like it anywhere. That will have to remain a job for the future!

One thing was good - I got a hair cut!

When we got back we took the anchor up and moved south 8 miles to Crandon Park Marina - a Country Marina, on Key Biscayne. It looks lovely from the outside with very nice docks and a very nice building on the dock! Its half the price of other marinas in the area at $1.50/ft/night.
Perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised when we subsequently found out there was no wifi and no hot showers!!! The lovely building has been there for three years but they still haven't moved in - nobody knows why - "Huh, that's Miami!" we were told. Administration operates out of a prefab trailer on the property!!!

Anyway, we had a nice chat with a couple of locals and its still a gorgeous spot!
