Marathon

Day 214, March 12, 2010

Walked up to Publix to do some grocery shopping, stopping for lunch at "The Cracked Conch". Very yummy - I had a grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich with Key Lime Pie for dessert! On the way back to the boat we picked up a lilac "Relay for Life" T shirt for John as he'd agreed to help me at the Relay for Life booth at the Seafood Festival on Saturday. He looks good in lilac! (You have to be in touch with your feminine side to wear pink or lilac!)

Then we needed gas so we dinghied down to the Burdines Marina and it just started to pour with rain as we arrived there. Got soaked. And got more soaked on the way back to the boat.

We got all gussied up to go dancing at the Legion after supper, but then the rain came pouring down again and we chickened out and watched a movie instead.

Sadly, a boat went up in flames sometime during the night, really quite close to us. It was a small houseboat kind of vessel, the home of a liveaboard. Everything was lost and he just had time to swim aboard, so we heard the next morning. We didn't hear a thing!
