Day 225, March 23rd, 2010
Today we moved onto Bocca Chita, in Biscayne Bay. Motor sailed most of the way in the lovely sunshine. Found a good place on the wall and tied up. Bocca Chita is now a park with a nice little beach on the ocean side. It was privately owned back in 1930 and developed as a party island. The lighthouse was never actually commissioned. The State of Florida bought the island in the 1970s and its really a lovely spot to stay. Its costs $20 to stay the night - on an honour system.
Bill and Kathy from Skeeter anchored outside on Sand Key but came to visit for sundowners by dinghy. We had a great visit with them, hearing all about their voyages to Guatemala, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
