Day 260, April 30th, 2010
We'd gone to bed at 8:30 the previous evening and slept like logs. We woke shortly after 4:00 and finally gave up and got up at 5:00. Up anchored at 6:30 and set off again. Another beautiful day with the wind behind us, so we could use the jib to help us along. The wind got stronger in the afternoon until we were swept into St. Augustine at around 7.7 knots (current and wind). Funnily enough, I was at the helm, and had the same experience as John a couple of days before - we went aground in the mud again, inspite of being in the channel - in but on the edge!!! This time we were lucky though and got off right away!!
We were a little nervous of getting into the marina as we were warned by the marina guy to watch for the wind and current but our slip turned out to be in a pretty sheltered spot and there was a guy to meet us on the dock and help with the lines.
We walked over the Bridge of Lions to a small market for a few fresh groceries and by the time we'd had supper we were done in! More fun tomorrow as we explore St. Augustine. We've been here twice before but this time we intend to see the Fort and have a better look around.
