Shellbine Creek, GA

Day 262, May 2nd, 2010

Too bad we feel so pressed for time now, there was so much more to see in St. Augustine!!

However, we left the dock at just before 7:00 to get through the Bridge of Lions and start moving north again. The weather was beautiful with wind from the south so we were able to use the jib a lot of the day. We meandered through the grasslands. I hadn't remembered that the north of Florida looked so much like Georgia.

We had originally intended to stop at Fernandina Beach but it was only 4:00 p.m. and with another 3 hours of good daylight we decided to push on. Fernandina was a pretty sight from the water though. With the Seafood festival in full swing, all the shrimp boats along the dock were decorated with streamers - they were a pretty sight.

We stopped finally around 7:00 p.m. at Shellbine Creek. Just a grassy marsh - no trees, no boats, no houses!! Able to have a shower on deck which felt just lovely!!! A beautiful spot with the marshland and birds!!! Georgia!!!
